★Gummi Shark Personality Traits★
Dominant Personalities
Gummi Shark society loves to label individuals within it, making it easier for it to determine who will be on top and who will not. The main way they label is through "dominant" personalities and sub-personalities. Gummi Sharks have what some call a flaw where they are dominated by one or two of their characteristics. This means one Gummi Shark would mainly seem cold in their actions and whole demeanor, or another Gummi Shark would strongly seem hot-headed all the time. A personality that shows no matter how much a Gummi Shark might try to hide it is a dominant personality. Gummi Sharks can only have one dominant personality.
Most dominant personalities are rather... unpleasant in nature. For whatever reason, Gummi Sharks' nature is to cause conflict with one another whether given a good reason or no reason at all. It isn't uncommon to see two Gummi Sharks having a rumble or argument, in fact it's a common sight to see many Gummi Sharks having a heated debate. This way of life has become the norm of Gummi Shark society, and anyone who are against or threatens this way of life are heavily looked down upon. There are currently 17 dominant personalities, 12 of which are common and fully accepted, and 5 that are rare and shunned. Gummi Pups also have an additional 4 personalities exclusive to their age; they will grow out of them if they have any of these personalities into a common personality: Curious, Silly, Inattentive, Mischievous

Note!!: There is a perceived perspective and a self perception listed under each personality/sub-personality. The perceived part is how society views this personality/sub-personality label, and the self perception part is how the Gummi Sharks labeled as this would see themselves. This of course could vary from individual to individual, these are just optional layers behind why a Gummi Shark acts the way it does. (Thank you to Ana, Kat, and Yuk for helping with writing the "self perception" sections)
Common
Grouchy- Perceived: Grouchy Gummi Sharks always seem to be annoyed with life in general. All they want to do is get through a day without being bothered, which seems impossible for them, leaving the Sharkie quite grumpy.
Self Perception: Although grouchy sharkies are really annoyed by life, they have a good reason to be! Everyone is so mean to them, why in the world would they want to go through this everyday? Most of the time grouchy sharkies want a change in their life, but are unable to get that change or just find it easier to tolerate it than actually trying to make a change. They may also suffer from mild headaches a lot of the time, making their responses to issues pouty and grumpily.
Malicious (previously known as "Mean-spirited")- Perceived: Something about Sharkies like this is just off. They seem to get enjoyment out of others' pain and word their sentences in a way that cuts through feelings. They are just plain mean!
Self Perception: Alas they do cruel actions to others, but life may have been cruel to these sharkies. They thought they’d return the favor by being mean to everyone else. What they really want is respect and perhaps a life they think they deserve-- and since they may not ever get to their desired life, they choose to take out their frustrations on others in the most awful ways.
Inappropriate- Perceived: Jokers that never seem to know when not to joke or play pranks are labeled as this. Everything they witness seem to have some sort of humor that can be pulled out of it-- don't have these Sharkies at funerals...
Self Perception: The self perception to the inappropriate for these sharkies is that they can barely cope with their negative feelings. They are so prone to stress, the only way they can take it is making themselves laugh. Sure they don’t know when to hold back jokes, but sometimes they just need to feel whole again.

Skeptical- Perceived: Sharkies that have a difficult time believing others. Even the closest of friends are suspected to be the culprit of missing gummy bears. They fully trust no one.
Self Perception: There isn’t much to trust in this world, it is possible even their parents betrayed them one way or another. With how brutal and shameless Gummi Shark society is, it’s no wonder these sharkies have a hard time putting even a little trust into anyone. Some do wish they could depend on others, but most prove to be quite toxic.
Hot-headed- Perceived: Who set these Sharkies off? Even a light tap on the shoulder seems to set off their fuse. They seek for ways to be angry it appears.
Self Perception: Angry these sharkies are, pointless anger they do not have. They find every right to be angry, this world seems unfair to them. It upsets them just existing in some cases, they want a much better life. Their frustration turns into pure heat that goes straight to their heads. Who could blame them for their anger with all that built-up frustration?
Cold or Aloof- Perceived: A lot of the time these Sharkies are cool as a sea cucumber. Nothing can catch their interest, not even others' feelings. This can come off as either cool or hurtful depending on how they brush off others.
Self Perception: Sometimes there are points in these sharkies’ lives where they question why fighting is so important. Then they start to wonder about other things as well… It requires so much energy to deal with everything. So instead they choose to treat everything the same and approach it with a cool head. They can go a bit far with this ideal at times, but it’s the best way they’ve found to deal with such shenanigans.

Cocky- Perceived: Is there nothing that these Sharkies cannot do? That is the question these Gummi Sharks want to hear all the time since they feel they are good at everything. Nevermind the fact that they can only do 30% of what they say they can do.
Self Perception: Cocky sharks think highly of themselves. They believe that they are on a higher level than the average shark. And because of that they show it. Even if they failed in their minds they are still on the top. Nothing can tarnish their very high views of themselves. It's not cocky to them. But more so a realization of their greatness that needs to be vocalized. They are just being honest about themselves in their eyes.
Wannabe (shortened "Badass-wannabe)- Perceived: These Gummi Sharks are easily impressed, but they don't want to show it. They secretly fear that they will be rejected, so they copy tougher Gummi Sharks' every move. These kind of sharkies are extremely annoying to others, but they became so common, society decided to accept them with a grain of salt.
Self Perception: While they are easily impressed by many things others do, they want to at some point gain a sense of self-identity. Who they are now will surely be rejected by others, but the best they can do is see what others do. Maybe they can stitch each piece they gain from their superiors into the very fabric of their being to be the best Gummi Sharks ever known! However this is quite an optimistic view and they are not sure how long they can keep this up.
Manipulative- Perceived: These Sharkies always know how to twist things to go their way. They are highly esteemed as much as they are hated; some love how they can get things to go their way while others hate that they were tricked into doing things a way they didn't want to.
Self Perception: Asking kindly for what they want is not an option in this world. What else can they do other than tell a little lie here or bribe a little there? You have to do what you can to get what you want; unless of course you want to be poor, broken, and empty in the view of others...

Sassy- Perceived: Trying to outshine these Sharkies will result in consequences and burns. They know just what to say to get others to shut their mouths. They won't take crap from anyone, that's for sure.
Self Perception: As a pup they couldn’t talk while their parents said things to them that they wanted to react to so badly. As a child, they had words, but not enough to take on older kids. More and more they wanted something to say, and the moment they found those things to say, they would take those words and slap it across everyone’s faces. In their minds they’ve been practicing, and now they have every comeback and sentence to show who’s boss. No one can outspeak them now.
Pessimistic or Melancholy- Perceived: There's times life just seems to be sour-- to these Sharkies, life always seems sour. Some however only come off this way on the outside but not truly think it, while others fully believe life sucks.
Self Perception: There is a lot of bad things that happen in this life. How to approach them is a huge challenge. Some of these sharks choose to voice out their woes and sorrows about these happenings, and some choose to embrace the sadness and assume life is just bad all together. Whatever they choose to do, they do wish for it to get better… well most do.
Fawner or Suck-up- Perceived: These Gummi Sharks love to flatter others... so they can get to where they want to go. Whether it's to get through a territory or get the high position in a gang, they find a way to appeal to other Sharkies' better nature. It's almost guaranteed they talk smack behind your back.
Self Perception: Every Gummi Shark is a road block in these sharkies’ eyes. They could try to jump over or even take down these blocks, but why do that? Instead, they find it easier to woo, to flatter, and to smile their way past them. Some just see these blocks as something to get pass, while others loathe and hate these blocks as they sneak by. Either way, they aim to reach their destination, whether it be world domination or a simple but hard to achieve desire.

Rare
Clueless- Perceived: Most of the time these Gummi Sharks have no clue as to what is going on. They are unaware of social expectations which results with them getting into trouble quite a lot. Other Gummi Sharks find them very annoying, shooing them away from their hangouts and biting at them when they wander too far into a given territory. Most of the time these Sharkies want to live a peaceful, carefree life, the opposite of what other Gummi Sharks want.
Self Perception: Clueless Gummi Sharks have spent a lifetime being teased and tricked by more mean-spirited Sharks. They are unsure of so many things thanks to living in uncertainty, and only have a desire to learn without harming others for information. They are good at heart, but maybe also clueless about their own good nature!
Shy and Nice- Perceived: They're reluctant to approach or be approached, but when they are they try to be as nice as possible; much to others' dismay. These Gummi Sharks are an easy target to be made fun of and mocked all hours of the day, making them even shyer than they already were.
Self Perception: Many Shy and Nice Gummi Sharks grew up outside of the general flow of shark society, and don’t understand typical social queues. They default to kindness, as it’s a lot easier than being mean and stressed, and the shyness is a result of their kindness being met with disdain. It’s a never ending cycle of shyness and kindness, but these sharkies just can’t help themselves!
Cheery- Perceived: Happiness is the greatest thing to these Sharkies! They just want to spread it around, but many reject it. That doesn't get them down though, they'll just keep trying! Physical violence is usually put upon these poor cheerful Gummi Sharks.
Self Perception: Cheery sharks very well could have started off just acting cheerful to annoy their peers. But, upon living the life of a positive individual, became happy with just being happy! They don’t feel like their happiness could impose on anyone else, even if sometimes it does. But how could it not be for the better?

Loving- Perceived: They love to find the best in others, they just love to love! When someone looks like they need a hug, they'll give it; even if they are met with a bite. They aren't afraid to show their care for others, and that's just what society doesn't encourage.
Self Perception: Loving Sharks see themselves as the ultimate peacemakers. Their love knows no bounds, and is full of mysteries: how could a shark ever grow up wanting to love all things? Whether the sharks understand it themselves or not, they will continue to live and love how they know best.
Crybaby- Perceived: These Sharkies are always tearing up, and for good reason; life is very mean! They don't understand how everyone goes on living without shedding a single tear, so they cry for them. Their cries can be very aggravating to common Gummi Sharks, and are usually chased away.
Self Perception: Crybabies cannot help but see themselves as victims in shark society. The more upset they become, the meaner other sharks treat them, and the self-fulfilling cycle continues. They only hope to find comfort in perhaps a kinder or at least understanding shark, and until then, will relieve their stress through buckets of tears.

Dominant Sub-Personalities
Gummi Sharks can sometimes have a second characteristic that dominates them called Dominant Sub-personalities! Dominant sub-personalities are recessive compared to their dominant personality but are still noticeable personalities Gummi Sharks may have. Some sub-personalities are more hidden than others in each shark, but none of the sub-personalities are as noticeable as their dominant personality. Any common dominant personality can be sub-personalities: For example, a Gummi Shark can have a dominant personality of grouchy and have a sub-personality of cocky; their grouchy dominant personality shows a bit more than their cocky dominant sub-personality.
Even some rare dominant personalities can be a dominant sub-personality, however this is just as rare as the rare personality itself. Not all sharks have sub-personalities, some only have one main personality! If one does have a dominant sub-personality, they can only have one. Also Gummi Pups do not have dominant sub-personalities, these form in their adolescence. Gummi Pup exclusive personalities (Curious, Silly, Inattentive, Mischievous) cannot be sub-personalities or grown shark main personalities!
The ones listed below are exclusively dominant sub-personalities. This means they canNOT be a dominant main personality. For example, you can have a hot-headed shark with a sub-personality of stubborn, but you cannot have a Gummi Shark with a main personality of stubborn. There are 15 common sub-personalities and 5 rare sub-personalities (which are just as rare as main personalities) making a total of 20 exclusively dominant sub-personalities.

Common
Judgmental- Perceived: You could say almost every Gummi Shark is judgmental, but Sharkies with this sub-personality judge others about the smallest of things. It is extremely difficult to impress this sort of Gummi Shark.
Self Perception: Judgmental sharks view themselves as very wise beings. While other sharks ignore the “faults” they see in sharks. Judgmental sharks believe that is unacceptable. They believe they see things that other sharks may not. And believing they are the wise sharks they are, that is their justification within them to judge other sharks in every way shape and form. Not all judgmental sharks may vocalize it. But it’s important for them to be selective with the sharks they approve. They are only trying to weed out the flawed ones in their eyes. When they do vocalize it, they don’t believe that they are being judgmental. But instead being honest. And honesty is the best policy!
Snobby- Perceived: Some things are just not good enough for these Sharkies. In fact a LOT of things are not good enough for them, they want the highest quality of food and the cleanest of places. They won't tell you this directly though, maybe the least you'll get is a nasty look.
Self Perception: These sharkies have fallen in love with the finer things of life. Many of them do not realize they may sound “snobby”, but more so that they only have one life to live. So why settle for second class or lower? It doesn’t make sense to them to settle for something lower. They appreciate their life greatly, so as a result they indulge in spoiling themselves with the finest of things. Anyone who tries to give them less is stepping over their boundaries and just plain insulting them.
Dishonest- Perceived: Telling the truth is just not on their agenda. They will find every way possible to lie, even when it's not necessary. The best part is when others find out something isn't true, it tickles these Sharkies' funny bone.
Self Perception: There is no fun in being predictable. When everything goes right, to these sharks it’s boring. Not telling the truth adds variety and makes situations more interesting to them. They would rather be entertained by the havoc their lies caused instead of telling the truth so things stay in order. Besides, sometimes the truth is harder to say. So in that case taking the easy way out and lying about it is less of a hassle for them. They are not dishonest in their eyes. They are showing their creativity with false scenarios instead of the norm. Their personal way to make things a bit more interesting.

Fussy (previously known as "Prissy")- Perceived: They want anything and everything, and they'll make sure to let you know it. They are used to be served and spoiled, expecting every Gummi Shark to treat them like royalty. They aren't shy to yell at anyone.
Self Perception: Fussy sharkies won’t settle for less. If it’s not the best, forget the rest. They consider their wants and needs to be their highest priority; everything else comes after if at all. They have to be very vocal about it to make sure others know this because if they don’t, others will follow those who neglected their needs and desires long before. To feel neglected is to not matter at all, which is absolutely not an option!
Stubborn- Perceived: These Sharkies just do not want to cooperate! No matter how much you try to reason with them, they just won't budge. It's either no way or no way at all.
Self Perception: Stubborn sharks don’t believe they are stubborn, They think that refusing is a sign of strength. By refusing the requests of others, or reasoning if any, they believing they are standing their ground. Not bending to the will of others makes them seem stronger. As if they are their own shark and will only make decisions that correspond with what they want. Call it rebellious if you will. In order to survive in the Gummi Shark sea you have to be tough. And for them there is no greater way to show it than behaving like this.
Queasy- Perceived: These Sharkies are often worried or nervous, sometimes snapping when others try to make light of their worry. They just don't feel comfortable about something, they're not sure what it is, but their discomfort is very important to them.
Self Perception: Even though sharks are intelligent beings, the truth is that sharks don't know absolutely everything that's going to happen. Be it a sign of paranoia or not these sharks think that the responsible thing to do is worry. Something can go wrong at any second without warning. They find other sharks that don't worry careless. Even when everything is looking okay they find it foolish not to be in any other mindset but queasy. These sharks thinks that the responsible way to view life. Hence why they will snap on others who differ. A careless shark in anyone’s eyes can be irritating to the fullest. And until all the answers are given, it's just naive to be completely comfortable in any situation.

Loud- Perceived: Don't try to talk over these Sharkies, it's pointless and you'll lose your voice. They have to be the center of attention in a conversation, so they put up the volume of their voice to make sure others know that. No secret can be kept with them.
Self Perception: Loud sharks believe what they have to say is the utmost of importance. No matter the subject, these sharks believe that they must do what they can to get their point across. These sharks believe they passionate, and to them passion can be displayed by being the loudest of them all. It is satisfying to know everyone knows what they have to say. If someone is too quiet, their voice might get drowned by the others in the situation. For them, the louder you are the more sharks will listen and be aware of their words. And getting that across is their main priority. Drowning out others with their voice gives others the appearance that what is said is more valuable than a more quiet shark. Hence why it doesn’t make sense for them to be anything but loud.
Impish- Perceived: While they aren't fully mischievous, they are always tempted to cause mischief when given the chance. They'll silently snicker thinking of all the naughty things they can do in a given, yet rarely act upon it. If they do find a really good scheme though, they'll go through with it in a heartbeat.
Self Perception: Gummi sharks in general sometimes tend to be more on the serious side. Many things are serious business. And for these sharks, life should be anything but. By acting impish they believe they are actually creating a situation that would hopefully lighten the mood. Almost like a jester to a king. In their eyes they are doing something notable much like charity in some ways or another. Even though the one entertained the most is them, they believe that most of the others agree with those feelings. Although they may not act upon everything, the thought of doing something good in their eyes lifts their spirits.
Quiet- Perceived: These Sharkies are less inclined to contribute to conversations. Making their presence known isn't that important really. Whether they hate conversation or just are too lazy to say anything is always a wonder on other Sharkies' minds.
Self Perception: Quiet sharks don't feel the need to socialize. In their minds they say, “Why go out of my way to say something to them?“ Their mindset is if someone wants something, they should come get it. If a shark approaches them, quiet sharks give them an answer. Otherwise they find it unnecessary to give something that is not asked of them in the first place; unless of course it’s something that they feel like they need to contribute. But more than often it’s an unnecessary waste of time for them. And if someone truly wanted to know something of them, they would go out of their way to ask them. Quiet sharks believe it shouldn’t be the other way around.
Lazy- Perceived: Work? No way, these Sharkies don't have time for such a thing when they can spend this time napping! Nothing pisses other Sharkies off more than refusing to help out, and enjoying angry Gummi Sharks contributes to their refusal to help with anything physical.
Self Perception: For them, there is no logic behind putting effort towards anything. Why do something someone else could do? It makes no sense to do something when some other shark could use their energy to get the job done. They see it as conservation and using what energy they have wisely. These sharks do not think they are lazy. They actually think that they invest their time and energy wiser than the average shark!
Spiteful- Perceived: Sometimes there is just this subconscious urge to do things that will make others cringe for these Sharkies. Doing little things that make others question whether or not it was to harm their ego is a common activity for spiteful Gummi Sharks.
Self Perception: After being wronged so many times, these Gummi Sharks are tired of it. They choose to take matters into their own hands and slowly get back at anyone they feel will wrong them. Sometimes they were incorrect in their assumptions in the short run, but they surely know that at some point that person was going to get at them. If they don’t throw the first punch, then they’ll continue to be the first one to be knocked down. They prefer to throw punches subtly to not raise too much alarm but keep others on their toes.
Humorless- Perceived: Jokes fly over these Sharkies' heads. Trying to make them laugh will not only make them stare at you blankly, but if you joke enough, you may earn yourself a very annoyed Gummi Shark. Humor doesn't appeal to them at all, they don't get it.
Self Perception: Seriousness has yet to betray them. By keeping straightforward and firm about communicating, they have found it easy to get jobs done. They see jokes as a waste of time, perhaps even thinking humor is a weakness. It’s not only that they don’t understand it, they also think it wears down one’s guard and ability to make swift decisions. You can’t let anything get you trapped in a giggle fit when your life is always in danger.
Resentful- Perceived: Remember that time you step on this Gummi Shark's toe? They do-- and boy they won't let you forget it whenever they run into you again. They never get over anything, they'll take any negative experience and change it into lifelong bitterness.
Self Perception: If you take things too lightly, you might as well be a doormat. At least that’s how these sharkies think. Too many times have they seen others be lenient just to get ran over eventually. They don’t want to be like those pushovers, so they won’t let anyone get away with anything. Besides, who could forgive anyone for stepping on their toe like that?
Irritable- Perceived: It isn't too hard at all to irritate these Gummi Sharks. They make every little annoyance a huge deal, complaining is not an uncommon hobby for them.
Self Perception: There is too much to deal with and this grinds these sharkies’ gears. As if one thing to handle isn’t enough, another and another and another gets thrown at them. They don’t have time to handle others gently, in fact they feel everyone is just trying to get on their nerves! When you have this much to balance, you wouldn’t help but to talk about it or snap at a few either.
Drained- Perceived: It looks as if these Gummi Sharks have no push or motivation. Perhaps life has been too hard on them or they just had it with fights, either way they seem sluggish all the time. They can't help but sigh.
Self Perception: The sheer amount of negativity and the high expectations from their families early in life pulled any and all of their will right out of them. It’s hard to find a point in trying at all, they cannot justify it. They feel like nothing they do will ever amount anything, and in the end they have no idea why other sharks try in the first place, and trying to understand others reasons for doing anything just leaves them with less energy than before.

Rare
Forgiving- Perceived: Everyone makes mistakes, and these Gummi Sharks a willing to forgive them no matter what. In their hearts they can hold no grudge or inch of bitterness... Plenty of Sharkies don't like that.
Self Perception: Deep down in their heart of hearts, perhaps these Sharkies have done something that they realized was hurtful to others. Now they’re doing their best to give the forgiveness they are yearning by being understanding to others. They don’t care if it makes them look weak, so long as they can sleep well knowing they’ve been the bigger Shark at the end of the day.
Hopeful- Perceived: When there's a will there's a way for these guys! They have big dreams that are hard to hide, they cannot ignore these dreams and always hope for the best. It's this kind of thinking that can get them in trouble if they speak of it around others.
Self Perception: In Gummi Shark society, it may be looked down upon to display any sort of positive or happy feelings, but the hopeful Sharkie thinks that in the end it will help them make it to the top. Why be angry about something? Hoping for something better is motivation, and even if everyone else is against them, they are betting that if they stay positive, in the end they’ll be the ones calling the shots and eating the finest gummi bears. Sure, they’d end up with a bloody nose, but eventually they’ll meet a like-minded soul. Right?
Guilt-Ridden- Perceived: Most Gummi Sharks have no shame, but it seems all their potential shame have went into these Gummi Sharks. Every negative action they commit is held against them by their own conscious. This can make them very prone to reacting negatively to others-- which adds to their guilt even more.
Self Perception: Growing up in such a violent society, these sharks have perhaps become too keen. They've watched countless others be pummeled and abused for their mess-ups, and now, even if it’s just an accident, they cannot escape their endless guilt, even just thinking of doing something that they think is bad may cause them to feel bad. Every day they’re caught up in their head and trying to not do anything to further the guilt, they just want to fit in with all the confident sharks and not worry.

Easy-going- Perceived: Life is truly carefree and great in their eyes, so they won't bring others down. While others react to others' actions, they take them lightly. Some do not understand this mindset and snarl at these Sharkies' tolerance.
Self Perception: Easy-going sharks may seem like they don't take anything seriously. While it angers other Sharks, they've probably watched and learned from those Sharks, and decided that all the anger and stress isn't worth it. The pain of a fist fight, and shorter life span just do not seem to be worth it to them, and so they've decided to take it slow and easy, even if it means they'll have fewer friends at the end of the day.
Passive- Perceived: Violence is not the answer for these Sharkies' no matter how much inner conflict they may have within. They would never lay a hand on another Gummi Shark, even if it means getting thrown around in the process. Deep inside they just don't understand Gummi Shark society and want no part in the practices; this makes others' blood boil.
Self Perception: They realized early in life that a lot of sharks wanted attention for their rude and intolerant behaviors. These Gummi Sharks refuse to let them get that satisfaction. No shark is worth the energy they would waste in reacting to violence, it’s easier and maybe even enjoyable to some passive sharks. Just lay back, let others waste their energy, and things will all settle out in the end.
Other Characteristics
Dominant personalities and dominant sub-personalities are not the only personalities a Gummi Shark can have. These are just the extremely prominent personalities Gummi Shark society label their own citizens under. A Sharkie can still be quite adventurous in nature and be ambitious, however their dominant personality and sub-personality rules over their actions the most.
Mystery to Labels and Forced Personalities
It is a true mystery as to why Gummi Sharks suffer from being labeled so heavily and are unable to get past these personalities that dominate them. However it is hardly ever questioned, as asking about these things would get you attacked or worse. The most curious hypothesize that it's actually a curse of some sort... others say it's just a part of the Gummi Shark nature since Gummi Sharks have been like this from the beginning. The curious do ask how their beginning even.. began? Where did they come from, how come they are this way, and who in the world is continuing to enforce these personality labels? They don't ask this too often due to backlash, so it continues to go unanswered for most and nothing ever changes. The thought of getting rid of the labels puts fear in the hearts of many Gummi Sharks...
